Our Horses
Our Four Legged Angels:

Radler - 31 years young.  He was donated by his loving owner, Kerry, whose only request was that we always keep his mane long!  As the oldest in our herd, we affectionately call him "Paw Paw."  He takes great care of his riders and trains volunteers to lead correctly.

Loo's Blues- is a 27 years young quarter horse leased from Lesley Thomas.  Lesley and her family are glad to have him working with kids again!  He has been a tremendous asset to the program!  He is always cool under pressure!

Poncho - 23 years young.  His previous owner was having some health problems and could no longer care for him.  He is probably a Paso Fino cross, but he is lovingly called, "Poncho the Man Pony" by several of the volunteers.  He has a very smooth "gait," and his smaller size is sometimes less intimidating to new riders.

Kylee
18 years young.  Kylee is a Mustang captured in Nevada.  She made her way to us a few years ago when her owner decided to "get out of the horse business."  After some great training from Mike Pitts and the HATS gang, she is doing a great job in the program!  She is a big, strong girl who can carry some of our heavier riders.

King Fish  26 years young.  He is a quarter horse donated by Chris Fulton.  "Fish" was given to Chris's daughter by a loving neighbor, and was  donated to HATS after her death from a terminal illness.  Now Fish brings happiness to many adults and children with disabilities!  Fish has a breathing issue that occassionally slows him down in the hot summer months

MR T-  is a 20 years young 1/4 Saddlebred and 3/4 Arab leased to HATs by Dr. Sally Thigpen and her daughter, Sarah.  He has had a long career as a lesson horse, most recently at Covenant Farms, and Gwen and Kathy have made him into the fantastic horse that he is today!  He has taught many aspiring English riders!

Moon Beam Powered AKA "Pocket"
20 year old sorrel AQHA registered quarter horse loaned to HATS by volunteer Erika Anderson (Picture coming soon)

HATS would like to note that we match the horses to each student.  This provides the safest combination for our program.  Being a therapeutic riding horse is more demanding mentally and physically than what many may realize.  Our barn is currently full, but we may consider accepting an exceptional horse under 22 years old without any unsoundness.

If you feel you have an equine of any type that would be perfect for our program, please contact us at
