Annual River Rat Paddle Challenge
The River Rat Paddle Challenge is our fabulously fun fall fundraising paddle race on the Ouachita River! Participants from surrounding states, as well as our hometown heroes, will race for the finish line in hopes of making the Endom Bridge within an hour, then pushing past to the finish line at Lazarre Park in West Monroe. Others will paddle at their own pace for a good time, or participate in group antics with their fellow "Rat Pack" members! This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and a ton of fun for all. Barn Show and Open House
This event is a great time for participants to showcase their accomplishments for friends and family while providing demonstrations for donors and the public. We typically have a great silent auction and sell new and used tack, barn items, and show clothes that we aren't currently using in the program. Its a perfect time to come see what we are all about! Watch our Facebook page for event details!
Tim Anderson Horsemanship Clinics
Tim Anderson is out of Sandhill Ranch in Vancleave, MS and has been training, coaching, and showing professionally for 20+ years. He primarily focuses on Versatility Ranch Horse and Reining. He travels here to offer a fundraising clinic, annually. Watch our Facebook page for event details!
One of the most precious gifts anyone can give us is their TIME. It can take as many as three people per participant to make our lessons safe, and sometimes need as many as 6 volunteers per day. All new volunteers must attend a mandatory training course; these are held about 1-2 weeks prior to each riding session (early March, early June, and early September). The dates are typically posted on our Facebook page, or contact us with the information on the right.
Sponsor a Horse
You can sponsor a horse by covering it's basic needs or little extras that some of our older animals need to stay happy and comfortable as therapy horses. Most can be sponsored for around $1,000 annually. This can be broken down into monthly payments, quarterly payments, or one lump sum.
We work hard to keep our services affordable for all of those who may benefit, but we still have to cover expenses! That's why we are a nonprofit and rely heavily on community support. Contributions can be mailed to our address on the right with checks made payable to HATS or Horse Assisted Therapy Services of North Louisiana. Rather use PayPal, just click here. For any other donation type such as cash, in-kind goods or services, or used tack, please contact us directly to make an appointment.
